Division Mission Statement

"The Division of Student Affairs is dedicated to helping students achieve success in their pursuit of academic and personal excellence. Departments and programs are designed and constantly evolving to complement our academic programs and the Public Affairs Mission of Missouri State University. Commitment to student success and excellence is provided by enhancing the total educational experience through engagement in student development opportunities and by providing exceptional service."  

The Division of Student Affairs is committed to supporting the Missouri State University community in its efforts to develop educated people. The Division consists of multiple support services, including departments dedicated to residence life, judicial services, enrollment management, student activities, student health, and multicultural and career services.

More information can be obtained about the structure of Student Affairs by viewing the Division Organizational Chart. Student Affairs staff members are dedicated to the development of an integrated learning community which celebrates diversity. Staff members will strive to assess the needs of students, parents, and University community members, and will provide the necessary resources to facilitate student involvement and participation. The Division shapes and guides its practices through the application of the Student Affairs Operational Statement.

2009-2010 Citizen Scholar Award

The Board of Governors is once again soliciting nominations for the annual Citizen Scholar Award. Since the award was created in 2007, 11 exceptional students have been chosen to receive this prestigious honor, and the Missouri State Board of Governors is expecting to recognize five more outstanding students this fall.

If you are a faculty or staff member who knows of a student who excels academically and exemplifies the Public Affairs mission, please download the nomination packet from this site and submit them to the Office of Student Affairs by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2009. Please be sure to read the "Criteria for Consideration and Selection" sheet, and to provide ample amounts of detail in your submission.

This news journal will chronicle exceptional departmental programs, successful student initiatives, and professional staff achievements.

Staff Development Series

Each month, the Division's Staff Development Committee organizes a presentation that is intended to enhance the personal or professional lives of the University staff.

The next session will take place on October 15 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. in PSU Ballroom East. The topic will be "Student Affairs Assessment 101."  The program will be presented by Dr. Martha Kirker, Institutional Research.
