Transfer Students

Transfer students are an important part of the Missouri State University. Missouri State enrolls more transfer students annually than any other public college or university in Missouri. It can be challenging for a new transfer student to adjust to a new institution. Fortunately, there are a variety of resources available to transfer students to assist them in the process.

Transfer Center

The Transfer Center is not a formal office on campus, but rather an online center designed to guide transfer students on how to get information about transferring to Missouri State. It includes information about how to start the transfer process, transfer VIP days, and a checklist of "what's next" for admitted transfer students. One of the items on this checklist is completion of the transfer student orientation, which is an online, 45-minute orientation to the university. It must be completed prior to the student's initial registration for classes.

Transferring credit to Missouri State University

This website is a great resource for getting information about how courses transfer to Missouri State. The university's course equivalency guide allows users to see how a specific course from a specific institution transfers to Missouri State. It is also searchable by MSU course to find other institutions that offer a course evaluated equivalent to the MSU course. Users can review the transferability of Advanced Placement, College Level Exam Program (CLEP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and military education/experience.

This website can be very useful in advising transfer students. When advising a transfer student, it is important to ask them if they have additional coursework (either completed or in-progress) that has not yet been transferred to the university. Asking this question can help the student avoid enrolling in a Missouri State course for which the student will receive credit in their additional incoming transfer work.

Transfer student programs

This program is part of the Office of Student Engagement and focuses on connecting transfer students to the university. Their website includes information about transfer resource fairs and Transfer Interest Groups (TRIGs).
